A fire broke out Sunday night at the Laos Embassy residence in the Kalorama neighborhood of Northwest Washington, prompting a swift response from D.C. Fire and EMS. Crews arrived at approximately 8:37 p.m. to find visible flames on the second floor of the three-story diplomatic residence at 2222 S Street NW.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within minutes. Everyone inside evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. Investigators remained on scene for hours afterward, inspecting the building for structural damage and potential fire extension.

The fire occurred in one of the city’s most prominent residential areas, home to numerous embassies and high-profile public figures. Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, owns a residence just one block away. The exact cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
