Woman in Critical Condition, two Firefighters hurt after Capitol Hill Rowhouse Fire

A woman was in critical condition and two firefighters were injured after a house fire Friday night in Southeast Washington, authorities said.

Fire crews from D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. to reports of a fire at a rowhouse in the 700 block of G Street SE. When crews arrived, they found heavy fire conditions on the first floor and began rescue and suppression operations.

A woman inside the home was rescued and taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said. Two firefighters were also injured during the response. One firefighter was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while another was evaluated at the scene.

The fire was brought under control and did not spread to adjacent homes, according to fire officials. No additional civilian injuries were reported.

Investigators remained at the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Officials said updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
