WASHINGTON – Metropolitan Police Department officials are investigating a homicide which occurred inside the West End Public Library.
Police were called the scene of the library at 23rd and L Streets NW at 1:50pm for reports of a man injured in the bathroom. Upon arrival, the officers discovered he had been stabbed and located the suspected weapon.
The man, who police have not yet identified, succumbed to his injuries on the scene.

Police have not released any information as to the suspect, but have said he is on the loose. The weapon, a kitchen knife, was recovered on the scene.
Locals in the neighbhood have raised concerns about the library in the past, which has become a magnet for homeless and the mentally ill.
“They’re not in this place to find books” said one passerby, descriving the daily crowd of homeless and others.
Police are analyzing video camera footage from within the hotel and forensic teams were seen in the library taking photos and collecting evidence.
