WASHINGTON – A man was fatally stabbed early Friday in Columbia Heights with the suspects reportedly fleeing on a scooters and electric bikes according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers responded at 2:15am to the 1300 block of Park Road NW near 13th Street. A man was found suffering from stab wounds and transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police issued a lookout for a group of two to five juveniles, at least two of which fled the scene on scooter and one, armed with a knife, was riding a Lime bike. The group was last seen heading north on 13th Street NW.
The stabbing occurred one week after three men were shot about a mile away in another incident involving scooter-fleeing suspects.
On September 18 at 1:00am, officers respondent to the 2400 block of 16th Street NW where three men were shot. All three were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the two suspect in that shooting fled the area on Lime bikes or scooters. No arrests have been made.
The incidents come amid at least one other recent case in which a suspect used a scooter to flee after a crime in the District. On Sept. 24, police said a man took a firearm from a special police officer during an altercation outside the Target in the 1500 block of New York Avenue NE. The man fired the weapon, striking a bystander, before fleeing on a scooter, according to police. The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
