Emergency Response Teams (SWAT) from the DC Metropolitan Police Department took the two into custody shortly after 9pm Monday night.

The Metropolitan Police Department canceled a press briefing at the scene of the Savanah Street shooting and instead planned to issue a press release, but as of Tuesday morning no more information has been provided.

The recent string of killings includes a range of incidents across various neighborhoods. Among them was a double homicide in Southeast D.C., where two individuals were found shot on May 22. Additionally, a fatal shooting occurred on Georgia Avenue NW, and another on Ogden Street NW. A particularly high-profile case involved the fatal shooting of two Israeli diplomats near the Capitol Jewish Museum, leading to federal charges being filed against the suspect.Alamy+4Alamy+4Alamy+4
