WASHINGTON, D.C. — A shooting late Monday night in Southeast D.C. left one man dead and two others injured, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of gunfire shortly after 11:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of U Street SE. Upon arrival, police located three individuals with gunshot wounds. One adult male was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims, one adult male and one adult female, were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
As of Tuesday morning, the identities of the victims had not been released. Police did not announce any arrests or provide details on possible suspects. A public alert issued by MPD asked anyone with information to contact police and advised the public not to take action on their own.
A separate incident occurred around the same time nearby, when emergency responders were called to the 1900 block of D Street SE—near the D.C. jail—for a reported stabbing. The condition of the individual involved in that case was not immediately known.
The two incidents are being treated separately, and authorities have not indicated any connection between them.
