WASHINGTON — A pedestrian was critically injured Monday evening after being struck by a Metrobus near Georgia and New Hampshire avenues in Northwest Washington, according to police.
The collision was reported about 7 p.m. near the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue NW and Georgia Avenue NW. Metro Transit Police said the bus was operating on the D74 route when it struck a man who was crossing the street.
Emergency crews found the pedestrian with serious injuries and transported him to a hospital in critical condition, authorities said.
Officials did not immediately identify the man or release information about the bus operator. Authorities also had not announced any charges or citations early Tuesday.
D.C. and Metro Transit police were investigating the circumstances of the collision.
