Washington D.C. – A string of armed robberies targeting schoolchildren has shaken several Washington, D.C. neighborhoods over the past two days, prompting an urgent police search for three suspects believed to be involved.
The Metropolitan Police Department said at least eight robberies have been reported since Tuesday morning, all involving juveniles on their way to school. In each incident, victims reported being approached by a group of three males traveling in a 2017 silver Kia Sorrento with Maryland license plate 7CM 1263. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.
Police said the suspects were seen wielding a high-powered rifle and a handgun during some of the robberies. One student at Eastern High School on Capitol Hill was injured during the robbery and transported to the hospital.
